Abstract

The relationship between headache and stroke is not unidirectional but bidirectional. In one side, headache is a major symptom of stroke and can be a meaningful early finding which helps the clinicians speculate the etiology. Therefore it is important to understand the clinical findings of headaches in various stroke for a correct diagnosis and management. Besides this aspect, recent accumulation of data about migraine as a independent risk factor for ischemic stroke demands neurologists to accept a new perspective that migraine is a chronic progressive disease. This viewpoint stimulates further management strategy in addition to conventional headache management to alleviate pain and to restore daily activities
